The second auction of the season and partner, Richard Abbey, who is also John Earle's auctioneer kicked off slightly later than planned at just after 6.30pm.
First to be offered was 1&2 Tanglewood Cottages, Loxley, two cottages with consent for demolished and replaced with a 5-bedroom family home. Despite a slow start the bidding soon picked up and the hammer finally went down at a respectable £375,000, a good margin of £25,000 over the guide price.
Next to be offered was Heathfield Farm, after so much interest in this property with over 1200 details downloaded let alone those that were sent out to interested parties. Heathfield farm failed to make its reserve and is now available by private treaty for around £550,000. Perhaps the main influence on the way the auction went was due to the restriction on the farmhouse, that only currently has planning consent to be refurbished as a holiday let, not a permanent dwelling.
Last to be offered 7.66 acres of land off Rotherhams Oak Lane. Being the fastest lot of the night, it took no time at all for Richard to reach a respectable sale price. The hammer went down at £69,000 a little over £9,000 per acre.
