Nearing The Top - View of Scotland from 3500ft

On Saturday 30th June Peter Cornford and Richard Abbey the two partners of John Earle along with two other members of staff and spouses, tackled the 4406ft climb of Ben Nevis. We set out at 11am reaching the summit at 3.30pm. The long trek was a little tougher than we anticipated with plenty of breathers taken along the way! Half way up the mountain at just over 2000ft, we passed team of 10 carrying up a gentleman in a wheelchair in his first attempt to do The Three Peaks Challenge and make a record, we were all promptly brought down to earth and instead of complaining of our aching limbs we were all quite glad to have them after all.

Looking Down on Sunny Scotland From the Top!

There was not much time to take in the breathtaking awesome views of Scotland as we still had the trek back down "The Ben" as locals affectionately call it. The walk down incidentally was almost as tough as the climb up, with knees, ankles and Achilles tendons giving way at various stages! Although the unanimous decision was that the mountain will probably not see any of our footsteps upon it again, it was well worth it for the views we saw.

Every one of us was proud to have completed the climb feeling very pleased with ourselves when we all arrived at the pub at the bottom of Ben Nevis at 7pm that evening!
