HOME FARM DISPERSAL SALE

Published 22nd March 2008
On Friday 14th March 2008 at Home Farm, by Knowle Hall, just east of Knowle village, the firm conducted a dispersal sale as the tenant farmer Mr Geoff Thompstone, of 40 years standing, was retiring on Lady Day.

Richard Abbey had a number of included lots from two other local farmers who were similarly retiring.

In all, there were some 250 lots, including some exceptional tractors and forage handling equipment. Viewing on the day of the sale commenced at 8am, and by 10 O'Clock, there seemed to be in excess of 250 people at the site. The office staff registered a substantial number of potential bidders and prompt at 10.30, Richard Abbey commenced the sale.

Over 100 lots were sold in the first hour, but progress slowed as he moved on to the more substantial items of machinery including the combine, a number of tractors, silaging and hay-making equipment. By 1.15, the selling was complete, and all the participents has enjoyed sunny weather and some sustaining food from Dave's burger bar.
