The name derives from "Clover Hill". The Village of Claverdon was home to the Spencers who were Lords of the Manor. It is the same Spencer family from whom Diana Princess of Wales descended. St Michaels Church is 15th Century and the real heart of this local community. Inside the church is a memorial to Thomas Spencer, a member of the Spencer family although not a direct relation to Diana Princess of Wales.
There are other heritage buildings around Claverdon, such as the "Stone building", which is apparently the remaining tower of the home of Thomas Spencer. There is the "Old Forge" with it's horse shoe shaped door way and the "Malthouse" all reminders of our English
Heritage. Claverdon has two public houses situated in the heart of the village "The Crown and The Red Lion" and nearby is the Crabmill http://www.thecrabmill.co.uk Claverdon also benefits the well known "Ardencote Manor Hotel" www.ardencote.com a well reputed and ever popular Golf and Country Club, a Doctors surgery, a Primary School www.claverdon.warwickshire.sch.uk a Butchers and Post Office, a Railway station, Rugby Football Club and Claverdon Lawn Tennis Club.
