Henley-in-Arden Guildhall Henley High Street

http://www.henley-in-arden.co.uk / www.henley-in-arden.org / www.henleynews.co.uk

A historic market town conveniently situated some 15 miles south of Birmingham, 7 miles north of Stratford-upon-Avon and 8 miles from the county town of Warwick. Henley lies on the road between Birmingham, Stratford and Oxford.

This is a delightful and charming small town in the heart of the old Arden Forest region situated on the mile long High Street. A trading town grew along the road to eventually creating the High Street, which now benefits from shops, restaurants, public houses, hairdressers, four churches, hotels, offices, residential homes and at the rear of the high street there is a doctors surgery, and further residential homes. Henley also benefits from two primary schools, Henley-in-Arden Community Primary School (http://www.henley-in-ardenprimaryschool.co.uk) and St Marys RC Primary School and also Henley in Arden High School, a railway station and a Golf and Country Club (http://www.henleygcc.co.uk). Also part of Warwickshire college is based in Henley.

Henley-in-Arden was originally shaped around the old Mot and Bailey Castle built on top of the Mount (which is clearly visible in Henley). Unfortunately, there are no surviving signs of stone work from the castle above ground, but a reconstructed model can be found in a local Heritage centre www.heritagehenley.org.uk and was featured on "Time Team'.

Henley has a plentiful supply of shops and services, such as boutique shops and patisserie's, cafes, independent financial advisers and solicitors >> htpp://www.lodders.com.
