Rowington surrounds St Lawrence Church, which sits at the top of the hill in the centre of the village. The Shakespeare family lived at Shakespeare Hall in Rowington during the 15th century. Apparently, there were several other properties owned by Shakespeare in the Rowington area that were eventually passed on to his daughter Susanna when he died. The Heart of England Way (a footpath in Warwickshire) runs through Rowington alongside Shakespeare Hall.
Rowington is close to the village of Wroxall, which is where Richard Shakespeare (William's grandfather) was born before moving to the village of Snitterfield. HenryVIII sixth wife Katherine Parr also inhabited the Manor at Rowington.
Rowington has two popular country public houses "The Cock Horse and The Wood" ww.thewoodatrowington.co.uk and the grand union canal runs alongside the village. There is also a riding school and livery yard www.horseweb-uk.com Rowington is within easy reach of Warwick, Knowle & Dorridge and Solihull and therefore benefits from their local amenities.
