This village is based on a Saxon foundation and it is known that the grandfather of William Shakespeare farmed the land that surrounds Snitterfield Church at the bottom of Bell Lane. The Medieval church houses interesting original features including finely carved stalls. It is 5 or 6 minutes drive to Stratford-upon-Avon and 2 minutes to the M40 junction. There are fantastic views from Snitterfield over looking Welcombe Obelisk on Welcombe Hills that stand above Stratford.
